Odor under left side of 89 Caravan

I have an 89 Caravan and I smell an odor behind the driver's door, about mid vehicle. It is kind of like that made by a jammed vacuum cleaner. The van sat for a while before I bought it, and the smell does not come from anywhere else, not the engine, not the passenger side, nowhere else. It only occurs after it has been running/driven for a while. I'm sure it is nothing, but still want to know what it is. Can anyone help? :gr_patrio

Could be the right rear brake pad sticking. Only thought I have.

Burning oil can sometimes make the same smell, but I don't think any fluids are in this area. Only thing I can think of is some kind of undercoating getting heated up by the exhaust.
