I have a 72 w/ 242,000 miles. it has the second motor in it, but is fixing to be replaced by the rebuilt original. the tranny, driveshaft, rearend, & suspension are original except for swapping to discs in the front & adding power to them.

I've got a 46 1½ ton truck. Doesn't have that many miles I think it's around 48,000. Hard to put alot of miles on a truck that only traveled around the farm and the occassional 3 miles to town.

1966 Plymouth Valiant with 232k miles... don't have it now, sold it to a mechanic friend and yes, it had decent compression at the time (Slant 6 engine 1-bbl carb).
About the only thing on the car that could not support compression were the floorboards :stk:

77stepside,

You are right about the Slant6; if anyone in the early 70s asked me if an engine could last over 100k miles, I would have answered that my Dad drove a few diesels to the ground but certainly no dadgum gas engine.

Well Dad gave me that Valiant (my first car) and I used Castrol GTX exclusively - it ran great and only the tranny needed one repair (one day it would not go over 40mph ont matter what you did to it)... ah those were the days - I even remember putting Isopropyl alochol into the tank when I knew I couldn't make it to the gas line from where I was at the time - such memories

;)

My first car,,, 72 Gold Duster, Slant 6. It went thru 2 other kids learnign how to drive before it was turnd over to me. It had 45,xxx miles showing when i finally got my license. When it showed oo,o23 I went into the back field with a brick. I put the brick on the gas pedal and went to school (I was wanting to put in a 340). When i got home, the radio was playing, the motor wasn't running...My dad put gas in the tank, it fired up and drove it in to get gas!! To this day, it still has the same motor!, and yes my dad still drives it, just not so often.

My first Dodge was a '87 Dak. I paid $600 for it with 189,000 miles on it. I put new brakes on the back, drove it for a year and ahalf, them sold it for $1300 with 212,000 miles on it. Engine still running strong to this day with 250,000 on it, no major work done to EVER!!!

hey, that just reminded me, my dad had an 87 'kota. he bought it brand new in 87, with a v6 auto & 4wd. he used it for delivering engines and other parts. i think when he finally got rid of it it had 290 or 3000,000 miles on it. all he ever did to it was an alternator & an oil pump.

1986 B150 Ram Wagon (Van) Royale. 301,865 miles. I am the original owner.
The Van has a 318 V8, it is the original engine, trans, and rear end. The engine has NEVER been opened. Only major repairs have been to replace the torgue converter in the 999 automatic. This was done under warranty, and another trans repair when 2nd gear stopped working.

Now for the bad news: I just sold it. :bawl:

Well its not a Dodge, but my uncle has a '92 Chevy Silverado ex. cab 4x4 350 auto with 260-270k farm miles. Oil is changed every 2k and all other fluids changed every 6k. Only major work ever done is replacing the lifters, and the mechanic who worked on it asked how many miles were on it and when we said 250k his jaw dropped and he said the engine looks like it has about 50k on it. This will be my first vehicle for a year or so untill I can get enough money to trade her in on a 94-95 Ram 2500 4x4 reg cab CTD with a 5-speed

I have an 87 dodge with a slant 6. It has about 350,000 miles on it. When I got it the guy told me that it probably had bout 325,000 miles on it. I think it is the original motor and as far as I know, no major mechanical defects. I had to replace the clutch in it bout 2 months ago and had to put an exhaust manifold gasket on it. Does anyone know of any bolt ons that I could put on it to get a little more horsepower? It has a 4 speed manual in it with 3.50 gears. Does anyone have a suggestion on a different gear ratio for more speed and torque? I have 33x12x15 Gumbo Maxxis Mudders on it and it doesnt pick up speed.

My Wifes Uncle has an all origional 72 Duster with a 225 Slant-6 Singlebarrel that I kid you not has 310,000 miles on it and it don't even smoke, did have to replace a couple Valves and I think 2 pistons but other than that the moptor has never been rebuilt. He has paperwork on it that he has kept where he logged the 100 and 200 and now 300 thousand mile marks and he drives it evry single day

My Wifes Uncle had a 1988 Dodge Dakota that had if I am not mistaken 280,000 miles on it. The only thing that I know about going bad with it was the water pump that had to be put in about 2 years ago and the Automatic transmission that hand grenaded two weeks ago.

My Dad's 1990 Jeep Cherokee it has 230, 000 miles and it is still going strong(knock on wood). The only things that have gone wrong with it was the transmission a year after they bought it and the new starter that he installed in January.

I've got a 74 Satellite that I bought in 96', It was my first car and it still runs to this day! I've put that car through hell and back, I've jumped it, drove it down trails, and gotten many speeding tickets in it!! I've never had any major problems with it other than my ex boyfriend rebuilding my tranny and it only lasted 3 months! (He's not the brightest star in the sky!) I still have it and after we finish rebuilding the other Satellite I picked up (same year as this one) we're going to put my baby on a ramcharger Chassis and make it a monster Satellite!
The car always thought it was a 4x4 so now it's getting it's wish!!!
