Just recent I started noticeing a kind of clunking sound that appears to be coming from the left front on my 98 SS/T. It almost sound like my Buick Lesabre when the struts went on the front, but, hey, this is a Dodge 1500 with shocks, any ideas before I get a chance to get it up on the lift, which probably won't be till this weekend.

This is the best way to assess the situation.
I know that there are a few TSBs about front end noise but it is better to visually inspect everything carefully before you go down the TSB track. Something like this will most of the time be resolved through visual inspection and some knowledge of the kind of miles you drive (off-road especially, if that applies) - that might help you make a decision as to what quality part(s) you choose.

Appreciate the response, keep trying to get a chance to get it up on the lift, but something keeps coming up on the weekends. Christmas, snow, what's next? Well, hope I get to do something this weekend....TGIF....

On my 94, the clunking was bad wheel bearings and loose lower shock bolts. When i replaced the bearings a second time because i thought they wore out prematurely, it turned out that the lower shock bolts were loose. Now that they are tight i haven't heard anything for over a year since i did it.

;D Found the culprit! Left front shock is broke inside and rattling against the casing. Looking for a good price on Rancho 9000's now!
