:help: I need to replace the Passenger side CV Joint on my '94 GC, 3.8. I plan on just changing the whole half shaft. Does anyone know the exact procedure to do this. It would save me around $100 if I do it myself. Thanks in advance!

Depends on how well equipped you are, but this isn't exactly a simple job. Far as I know, you take off the brake caliper and rotor in the usual fashion, then pop the lower ball joint off, then remove the hub nut. If I remember right, everything ought to swing out of the way enough to remove the shaft. I don't believe the shaft is held into the tranny with a snap ring or anything, just slides out (with a little effort) like the driveshaft from the tranny on a rear-drive car.

As I recall, the hardest part was removing that lower ball joint. I used a pickle fork when I did this on my 93 Lebaron, and slit the seal in the process, not to mention spending a good half hour pounding away at it. I'd get a real ball-joint removal tool if I had to do it again.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, anyone?

I'd spend 15 bucks on a Chilton's manual to make sure I had it right, or at least go to the public library and make some photocopies of the relevant entry.
