can someone zoom in on that? I can't tell if the Ram head is still in the center of the cross hairs on the grill. If not, I could POSSIBLY live with that. Hopefully you can still clear the headlights

Those headlights still bug me. I can't tell if the headlights are actually bigger or if the fender has been redesigned and they just look bigger.

they still bug me too, It looks like the fender has been cut back, and the headlights have gotten larger, but if you can clear them and get rid of that ugly orange stripe at the bottom, they might not be SO bad

Pretty fuzzy on the zoom, but it doesn't look like it has one at all.

aah current rams look better. the headlights are too big/long and that orange stripe on the bottom looks bad. im sure you will be able to get some clear corner lenses very soon after release of the 2006.

No problem, just new to Photoshop so I couldn't figure out how to clear it up. And sorry for my adjective choice, since I'm a good ole Southern boy, "pretty" seems to be a good adjective for everything:dunno:. More like incredibly fuzzy, lol.

lol..yeah.. I'm from Alabama, so I'm a good ole Southern boy myself. I don't have photoshop though... :bawl:
I could get used to the new truck as long as the grill doesn't have the ram head in the center. If so, we'll have to get Brian (Slammed1) to get us some shaved grill shells. And, as long as we can clear those lights.

I still think they look cool and they will grow on you. Most people reacted all crazy when the 2nd GEn came out, same as the 3rd Gen. So this incarnation of the 3rd Gen will also find a large fanbase. By the way, I dunno of any "truck" thats uglier than that new Honda. Yuck. I saw one today and it looks like a B a s t a r d cousin hybrid of an avalanche and ford explorer sportrac. Terrible.

PS - I have to spell B a s t a r d this way or it gets edited out :D But I can still say Dick! LOL

I don't think they're going to change the design for again for another few years. So, you might want to go ahead and get a username for Fordtalk.com

Well unless you plan on getting rid of the truck in just a few years... you won't have a problem.

They made the change a little early. The front end looks too wimpy. The muscle look is out. I guess whoever buys them will have to mod the sh1t right out of them to make them look meaner. The interior is nice though. We will have to wait and see what rims and trim packages they add to them. Like everything else, it will have to grow on us RAM owners.

I still can't get used to that front end. It just doesn't "flow" right with the overall lines of the truck.

I used to be an avid ford hater, but there is a truck down at the ford dealership i wouldn't mind having. I believe it's an 05 F-250 super duty harley davidson edition, it's a really nice looking truck. I'd take that over the new ram style. However i do not plan on getting rid of my truck soon it's only got 7,000 miles on it and i love the old girl.

I think the new super dutys are some pretty awesome looking trucks. They're just so damned expensive. A while ago I went to the auto center with one of my buddies and we stopped by the Ford dealer. They had a brand new Super Duty, Harley Edition with an awesome lift and rims and tires. It was going for $50,000. But man was it a sweet truck.

It does have the ram head on the grill I can see it. I plan on paying my truck off and keeping it. I was going to trade for a 07 but those plans are no longer. Everything I like about the front end is gone, I like the headlights and the way the bumper curves around them and I love the grill. This new one has a weak grill and the headlights, damn they damn near go back to the door plus I like to rn bigger tires with fender flares and I don't see Flares working on this truck. They have made a mistake. I hope the Hemi and CTD carry them till the next body style becasue that is the only attraction I see.

they hit a homerun with the 3rd gen ram style, why on earth would they change the look so dramatically soo soon........
Worst mistake ever, it looks like a Ram Whistling, stupid small grille, ugly headlights, slanted front end.
i was trading up for a 06 but now i'm not. i'll keep my 04

Correct me if I'm mistaken but that's a power wagon in the picture and therefore it already has flares. If I'm right, that proves the headlights will clear most flares out there.

Those headlights just don't do it. The squared edge coming off of the grill looks wrong. And the orange bar running across the bottom of the head light! What is that for? I think the sport package might look better. I hope so. What does the rear of the 2006 look like? I havn't seen any pictures of that.

The rear looks just like the rear of your truck. The only exterior changes (besides the addition of the mega cab) are to the grille and headlights. Techincally it's still considered a 3G Ram, though many people are trying to call it a 4G Ram.

Your right, it looks like its got black flares on it, thats why the wheel wells look so big. Good eye!

Well... I'll give you this one for now... they could be black flares on ther, it's just so dark of a pic that if they are, it just blends in with the wheel well front and back.
And yea, that'd make sense since it's so close to the door too.

I mean what are the "rules" that would make it a 4G Ram? If the front end and the rear be changed?

General rules for a new generation of just about any vehicle would involve a chassy change and/or a drastic body change. Changing a grill, headlights, 1/4 panels, bumper cover and an interior doesn't constitute a new vehicle. It's the same truck with a few asthetic changes.

I just think dodge needs to fire their design team.
The only vehicle they have not totally ruined is the neon. the 05 Daks are not that bad but will never touch the 2 gens, And the same with the Durrangos!!
Seriously, Dodge REALLY impressed alot of people with their 3rd gen rams!I see more Rams on the road then ever.
DODGE should of left the Ram alone and simply just made the Mega cab available.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the new '06s have a new frame and I know the 1500 4x4s will feature a completely new front suspension. It may not be a true 4G ram, but it is atleast a 3.5G.
Josh Brown
07-19-2005, 06:47 PM
Just the 1500 has the new frame. The 2500 got the hydroformed froam in 03. I say the things discussed on here about the 3g will not apply to the 06 1500. Most talk about TB crank, drop kits, lift kits, grills, hoods, interior stuff etc. All that stuff will be different on the 06. So maybe it is a 4G. Only thing that is the same is the engine and body cab back.
