Roho, I have a buddy that put a straight pipe on his and it sounds pretty decent. Although, his is a '01 and is louder then the new engines. How does the new engine sound with the straight pipe. I was hesitant because I didn't want mine to sound like a rice burner.

Big differance between ricer exhaust and CTD with a straight. You can hear that anoying sound defore it gets to you on a ricer. But a cummins has ALOT more "bark" in it and literally shakes the car you are passing. If you have a friend with a straight, ask him to floor it and pass you sometime.

I've watched people making funny gestures at me when I pass them going up a long hill with the horse trailer hooked up and my 5 inch exhaust talking pretty loud. They must like it. They keep telling me I'm number 1 in their book. ;D

I have heard the difference in the 2nd generation diesels with a straight pipe, but my question is how is the sound on the 3rd gen diesels. Mine is so quiet when it gets warmed up, I am afraid that it will sound dumb with a straight pipe.

I have heard an 03 with a straight pipe and it sounded mean. All turbo and exhaust, no motor rattle.
