I just bought a 2000 Durango with a 5.9 V8. I am wanting to put some kind of cat-back exhaust on. I have looked through countless postings of exhausts people have put on their Dodges. I was thinking of maybe going with Flowmaster 40 series, but I am really interested in the Borla mufflers.
The majority seem to be running the Flowmasters and I was just wondering why or what turned you off to the Borla's? Was it just the price or do the different exhausts sound that much different? Just trying to get a little info.

I guess it depends on preference and the sound isn't much different.

The Borla is pricy, also it is quite a bit more mellow sounding than the deep rumble produced by a 40 series Flowmaster. Don't get me wrong, Borla is high quality, just too quiet for me...
I personally chose the cat back system by Gibson simply because it was inexpensive and produces a deep rumble similar to the Flowmaster. Also it was a direct fit. All 3" piping, all the hangers and supports lined up, and it realy sounds great.
The reason I didn't go with the Flowmaster is because they didn't offer a cat back system, just a muffler. Which means if you want 3" pipe from the cat back, you would have to pay for a muffler shop to custom make the bends, install new hangers, ETC.
The direct fit is much easier to deal with, I had mine slapped in for $50. bucks. Plus, if I ever want to change to a different muffler I'm ready to go. All the piping is done.
Just my $0.02 :pimp:

It can be found discounted on the web to where it is comprable to other stainless single outlet systems and cheaper then others. I am considering putting the borla on my 99 Dakota 5.2 4X4. It is actually less expensive then the MBRP system I am also thinking about. My only concern is that it is too quiet. I don't want LOUD, but I'd like to know it's there:)

Borla is A RIP OFF. I would rather go with RBMP or DYNOMAX.
I own a Dynomax, and it sounded just AMAZING. Not too loud like flowmaster, but just lound enought. Also, it has a very deep tone to it. Just love it.
