Got the dealer commitment on my SRT-8.

Bad news and good news.

Bad news is that the 3 dealers who committed to selling me an SRT-8 at MSRP via voicemail or email backed out when I talked to them in person. Each of them said that since it isn't in the order system and they don't know the allotment that they won't/can't guarantee a price.

Fortuantely a friend of the family is a car collector and turned me over to the dealer who sold him his Prowler and Vipers.

The good news is that this guy is ready to sell me the car BUT I will have to pick it up in Detroit.

YeeHaa!!! ROADTRIP!!!! Looks like I'll have a nice time breaking it in on the trip home. I'll have to remember to keep the spped variable and hopefully by the time I get to the wide open spaces with little/no speed limit enforcement The car will be ready to be opened up! Hopefully I'll be able to make a full report on the speed limiter by the time I get home.

no, I won't know the exact date until the order is placed and the VIN released to the dealer. Then I should be able to follow it. Right now I have "a little over 2 months"

Sorry to hear about the problem with those dealers. Let me know when you get the word on the release so I can make sure my guy is on the ball. I just got an e-mail from him today letting me know he's looking every day. I'll give you a heads up if my guy gives me the word if I havn't heard from you.

I also have a "friend of the family" who has a corner office at DC and if she'll let me order it through her F&F plan I might be able to get local delivery. Which I would still prefer since a 2K mile road trip is fun but I'd rather not do it immediately! I also don't look forward to dealing with Michigan's Secretary of State and our DMV to determine who gets sales tax and reg fees etc.

No matter what it is worth it though!
