I just had my AT installed and all I can say is WOW. Here are some of my initial thoughts after 100 miles. Stock monster was cut as close to the ends as possible and about a 12" section added to the rear. BTW the D has a stock resonator. Hopefully the folowing will be the case after a couple humdred miles.
Another BTW. My MPG on the computer was reading 15.3 for the last month. Not more than a couple miles down the raod and it was reading 16. After the 100 miles of mixed driving and heavy foot it is still reading 16. On my next fillup I am going to reset the computer and see what happens.
1. Yes it is louder than stock but only while on the gas. Cruising at ~2k rpm and below is not bad.
2. With the stock system you can tell when you get on it. What I mean is if you are at a steady speed and mush the peddle it would seem that it would go through diffent stages or tones. Basically you could tell what the truck was doing. But with the AT once you are on the gas the tone is consistant. What this means to me is that the next thing I know is my speedo was at 100+ cause I was used to the sound getting even louder with the stock one. I hope this makes sense.
3. I have noticed a big improvement off the line however it seems like I lost something when I try and pass on the highway. This however could be the result of what I was saying in #2. So it could be just a sound issue and not a butt meter.
4. Wife factor! She was with me when I had it installed. Initially I was babing it since I had not heard one on a D yet. She was hip with the sound until I had to get on the freeway. I could not resist stomping it. She looks at me and said "thats kinda loud". But once we were at cruising speed she was ok with it. (BTW my wife is one that likes to put ricers to shame (she thinks they are all spoiled brats) and has been known to play around with them in our SAAB). So day 2 comes and goes and she asks if they make one for the SAAB .
5. I had an annoing sound (unsure if it was drone) at around ~1600rpm before. Now I have a very nice rumble. Have not had the kids in there to see if it affects their video watching so am not sure how the sound is in the back.
6. My only complaint is that I will have to replace/rotate my tires more often.
7. I had tried he mag but to me it did not sound that good. I did not even try the Flowmaster do to dealer recommendation that I would be back shortly to have it replced due to it blowing out. He did however mention that htey had a new flowmaster that was Hemi specific, but did not have any experience with it.
Sorry so long.....
