Check Engine Light

I have a 98 Intrepid with the 2.7. My check engine light came on and was wondering what I need to be concerned about?

First thought was EGR valve or 02 Sensor. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have over 80,000 miles on the motor and I do regular 3-4,000 mile oil changes using 10w30 grade oil.

Turn key on and off in this sequence


on-of-on-off-on-off-on (Not the start position)

Then you will see your check engine light start blinking. Count the blinks They will be spaced by a short pause.

The numbers will be 2 digits. Send me the code numbers.

It will end with 55.
