Well I just got back from a local dealer that had 1 of 2, I was told, 300C SRT8s in California. I have uploaded some photos I took to the following web site if you care to take a look. http://photobucket.com/albums/y141/qzking/ .

If you can't read the picture of the window sticker, the MSRP was $45K and then the dealer had another sticker next to it that looked real official, which I took a photo of, with "ADDED MARK UP" $12,000.00. We were there 10 minutes and never saw a salesman. Opened the hood, took pictures of the engine, passenger compartment & exterior, sat in and played with the SRT8 style bucket seats to see how the clearance was with the moon roof because I'm almost 6'6'. (It had plenty of head room without lowering the seat and with the seat all the way down I had a good 4 or 5 inches.) The back seat had no leg room at all with the seat adjusted for my heigth. Finally a salesman walked by and said that they had only allowed a couple of demos and gave us the impression we wern't going to get one so I didn't ask as it was on the showroom floor and I had no intention of buying it. He did say it had a real mean growl with the stock exhaust. It was a silver one and was beautiful and a black one has to be killer! He had 5 or 6 300 C's with the 5.7 and they were all marked up $5,000.00.

Next door at their Dodge dealership they had 3 or 4 RTs sitting out in the back, dirty & dusty. They had some more up front but I didn't even walk up there as I'm waiting for an SRT8. I think you could pick one of the RTs up for MSRP less a bunch since the 2006's are starting to roll.

I'm waiting for my Magnum and if it doesn't live up to my expectations I have the option to pass on it with this dealer. If that happens the prices on the 300C SRT8 will probably have come down to MSRP or close to it and I might just buy one of those instead. Not a bad fall back position!

I don't see how a salesman could not have shown up...there always seems to be millions that pop out of nowhere where I live. :)

I guess they thought we looked like looky loos or something. I mean, we were dressed well for Calif., golf shorts, collared shirt, etc. Hell, I think the Tommy Bahama flops I had on probably cost more than this salesman's entire wardrobe! I don't know. You'd think with just one to sell that the salesmen that were there, and I saw several over in the pit checking us out, wouldn't take a chance on trying to "weigh" a customer from afar. I mean, I could have written a check for the car on the spot. It's not the money, it's the principal (+$12K!) and the fact I really want a Magnum!

A Magnum will not let you down! Besides, they are cheaper anyway.

A long time ago I sold cars for awhile. The dealers I worked for would mark up special cars like that and would not share the markup with the salesmen, so we just ignored those cars and let the Sales Manager handle the deal. If you really want the car, grab the Sales Manager and tell him will drive it out today for MSRP. Bet he would bite.

That dealer won't get $12,000 over MSRP for that car. They know they are one of the few dealers that has an unsold SRT-8 and they will try to gouge the customer who wants it, but I can guanantee you that car will not sell for that much money! If it does, someone is either 1) way too rich or 2) way too dumb. ;)

Around here all the SRT-8's that are coming in are pre-sold units. The Magnums and Chargers will probably be the same way in a few months.

The salesman we spoke to said they had received two and one had been pre-sold @ plus $15K. Once again, he was a salesman. What could the other car have had on it to make it worth $3K more anyway? Color prefence? Another location of this same dealer contacted me and said he had 4 coming in with 2 sold and all @ +$10K. I'll wait for the Magnum SRT8 that I can buy at MSRP.

i hate when dealers have a 'market adjustment' added onto a vehicle. i just walk away. i can travel out of state to save that kind of money.

I know what you mean. I started to buy an RT last year and had a bad experience with a couple of local greedy dealers and decided to sit on the sidelines and then heard about the SRT8 and decided to wait untill 2006.

I contacted about 50 dealers on the West Coast and as far away as Detroit just to see what was out there and I finally got a reccomendation from one of the forums for a dealer in the SF Valley and I'm buying an SRT8 Magnum for MSRP. The guy e-mails me almost every day. No dealer that I have contacted has been able to place an order yet but it looks like it's going to be any day now. The dealer e-mailed today and thinks I should expect delivery in July or August bases on what he is hearing from within.
