Hi,

I have an 02 with the HO and 6 speed. There are 8000 miles on the truck. Love the truck, except for one thing. When towing up long hills, the transmission has intermittent grinding noises (loud!). I thought the engine was knocking coming up south pass in wyoming. Has anyone else had problems with the 6 speed? Thanks

"sounds" like a trip to the dealership for warranty work.:STY:

Colorado,

I have about 8000 miles on the truck now. I have pulled a bit with it and the transmission has not made the noise again. The dealer says unless the sound can be duplicated they will not do any work on the vehicle. I guess I agree with that. Unless there is a known problem, no sense chasing ghosts.

i have a 01 HO dually..and my seems to have a little prtob going into reverse....just a lil grindage every once in a while....also another prob i have..is when i first got it .i started it up and NO BUS flashed on the odometer..so i called my dealership..and they tolds me that it was a comp prob and there was a chance is i drive it that my airbags would deploy my throttle sticking and some other stuff so i had it towed in and..i still have the trouble sometimes when i start it it will flash NO BUS but go away after 30 sec's...dealership also told me if they couldnt duplicate it they cant fix it..but the manager is the only guy i deal with there i wont let the cummins mechanic touch it..the manager drove it and told me that my truck has more power than its suppose to and that i had my computer beefed up..which is not true. yet...and th reason i told there cummins mechanic not to touch it is whne i first got my truck and when the turbo would spool up there was a loud whistling noise from in front of the drivers side of the truck,,,there cummins mech told me that it was the turbo thats what it is suppose to well...he was wrong i told doge that i wasnt purchusing it til i took it to my mechanic.. well it was the lower intake hose clamp by the bottom of the radiator.. it was losse and was sucking air..so if there cummin mech cant find something that simple than i dont even want him around my truck..not even to pump diesel...lol
