I'm in central Texas. Are there any fuel additives that are beneficial for cold or hot weather? Got a '02 2500

REDLINE makes some additives and I'm taking this info right from their site:

RED LINE 15W40 DIESEL ENGINE OIL: Highly resistant to thermal breakdown. Provides double the detergent and acid-neutralizing ability of conventional petroleum diesel engine oils for maximum engine cleanliness. Ideal for diesels that run high oil temperature, such as those operated in hot weather or those in light truck applications where heavy loads are carried or towed. Best choice in medium and heavy-duty diesel truck engines when maximum durability is required. When used at extended drain intervals, it is an excellent value for long-haul, fleet use.

RED LINE 75W90 GEAR OIL: The preferred product in nearly all car and light truck differentials, both conventional and limited-slip. 75W90 is preferred for most racing applications. It contains friction modifier which is recommended for limited-slip units. 75W90 Gear Oil can be used in many transmissions and transaxles; however, other Red Line lubricants have better frictional properties for rapid synchronization. Exceeds API GL-5.

DIFFERENTIAL FRICTION MODIFIER & BREAK-IN ADDITIVE: A friction modifier designed to reduce limited-slip noise and to aid the proper break-in of any differential. This can be added to any gear oil to reduce temperature during break-in and prevent gear softening. Replaces manufacturers' limited-slip additives. Can be used to perfectly tune a limited-slip unit. Red Line 75W90 and 80W140 Gear Oils already contain this additive.

RED LINE HIGH TEMP ATF: Provides the gear protection of a GL-4 gear oil in an ATF and provides a higher viscosity at higher operating temperatures, allowing the transmission to operate at 70°F higher temperature and still provide the optimal shiftability and improved torque converter efficiency. The evaporation characteristics are significantly improved, being twice as good as our Synthetic ATF and five-times better than a petroleum ATF. The improved thermal stability significantly reduces the rapid evaporation of the ATF which can produce a frothing out the filler tube. The balanced frictional characteristics provides smooth and consistent shifts for extended drain intervals. The superior stability compared to petroleum ATFs allows high-temperature operation without varnishing valves and clutches which leads to transmission failure. HighTemp ATF is perfect for heavily-loaded vehicles which see high temperatures and automatic transaxles which are benefitted by the extreme-pressure protection of a GL-4 gear oil to lubricate the final drive. This product can be used in manual transmissions which require ATFs and will provide much better gear protection than a petroleum ATF; however, MTLŽ will provide better wear protection and better low-temperature shiftability in most manual transmissions which call for an ATF. High-Temp ATF is suitable for use in automatic and manual transmissions and transaxles where Dexron III, Dexron II or Mercon is recommended.

RED LINEŽ 85 PLUS: Is designed for use in all diesel engines. Contains extremely powerful lubricants, detergents, seal conditioners, fuel stabilizers, and rust preventatives, but without smoke suppressant. Instead, Red Line 85 Plus contains additional cetane improvers which will boost the fuel 5-9 cetane numbers and additional lubricants which can reduce wear in low-sulfur fuel by 75%. This improvement in lubricity and cetane will reduce detonation, assist starting, help reduce smoking, help prevent fuel system wear and leakage and can provide 5% additional power and efficiency.

RED LINE DIESEL WATER WETTERŽ: Same improvements in cooling efficiency as above, but without the rust & corrosion inhibitors. Designed for heavy-duty diesel engines which use more than 33% antifreeze.

RED LINE ASSEMBLY LUBE: Provides three-times greater film-strength than conventional black Molybdenum Disulfide greases and will not clog oil filters. This product clings to all surfaces and is an excellent rust inhibitor, allowing the storage of parts for years. A thin film of protection is all that is required an mating parts.

(I dont drive a diesel - so lets ask from some d owner input )

WHAT DO YOU SAY GUYS ?

DO YOU USE ADDITIVES OR ????

he he - NOPE

I was a "dyed in the wool" REDLINE fan for a while, now I use Royal Purple Synthetics, but was just quick to find some REDLINE info on diesel additives ;)

Hey, ya Ole Buzzard, (sorry, I couldn't resist)

I live in the Dallas Ft. Worth area, we use 3500 cummins, 7 in all.
Milage range from 45,000 to 300,000 miles on the trucks. All we use is rotella oil, changed at 5,000 miles, Red line wetter water, and synthetic oil every where else. The mose expensive repairs we ever have is brakes.
As for additives, no need down here, it just doesn't get clod enough for it. Just buy fuel from a high volume truckstop, you'll be good to go.

Your 24 valve Cummins uses the diesel fuel to cool the VP44 injection pump. So, lubrication is important. There are many good additives on the market. Standyne Performance Formula is good as is Howe's.

power service makes two kinds that prevent gelling which you shouldnt need worry about but also act as a pump lube and increase cetane ratings also. I run the white bottle year round in mine

You might look into Amsoil products. They have several additives and oils that beat all the other diesel oils hands down. Here are some performance tests run on diesel trucks.

They also have some bypass oil filter set-ups that with oil testing can extend your oil changes up to a 100,000 miles:
