Perhaps someone else has run into this with their Ramcharger. I have an '86, 5.9L that I am trying to pass smog but has failed because of the EGR. The EGR valve was replaced. I have cleaned the port into the intake as well as the exhaust ports, still no success. I think that carbon has built up so much in the exhaust ports that it goes much further into the ports then I can clean out. I am wondering if I can clean the ports by removing the exhaust manifolds to clean out the ports instead of pulling the intake manifold. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks,
Brian

The EGR valve diverts exhaust gases to the intake manifold port floor directly below the carberator. Remove tha carb to see if these passages are clean.

The air pump(or aspirator valves) pump fresh air into the exhaust manifolds which have a seperate passage that lines up with a hole below the cylinder head exhaust ports.

Based on the supplied info you should be able to decide what you need to accomplish the task:)
