I'm not a mechanically-inclined guy, but I am a HUGE Mopar fan.
I'm #1 on a local dealership list to order the Charger SRT8.
Other than major engine mods, what can be done to increase hp & torque on this 6.1 HEMI? And where can this be obtained? I'd be willing to spend up to $2000.
Thanks.

Good luck on this one being as it's so new. The usual answers are:

Exhaust: Dual pipes, headers, high-flow muffler and catalytic converters.
Intake: Cold air intake, Ram-air, etc. This will take awhile to show up for the charger.
Rear-end Gears: Changing out the rear gears will cause your engine to run slightly higher RPM's giving you more "go juice" but less MPG if you make a drastic gear change.

You can likely achieve mods in the three areas for about $2000 and give yourself a pretty good boost on anything else on the road. You could pretty easily be pushing more horses at the start than many ricers are giving at redline.

I would like to know if a programer is out for a 06.R/T 5.7 HEMI

there is the Jet chip out. I talked to super chips a month ago and they told me to contact them again in nov. The Mopar CAI for the 300/magnum will work on a charger along with most other CAI's offered for these cars. The R/T daytona SRT8 already have a duel exhust with a x pipe. but flowmaster, magnaflow both offer upgraded versions. Borla is supposed to be releasing one soon .. I have done the mopar CAI and a flowmaster exhust for about $1100. I am showing about a 20 rwhp gain from just those 2 mods.

look in my gallery for pics. Look under hemi exhust and 06 hemi charger fipk topics for more info ..

thanks thunder63cs. I'm new with chat stuff, don't know if I'm navigating in this thing right, hope you see this. I even used my nane instead of making up one, enoughof this. I looked at jetchips, does this programer store the factory program like the other programers? I was at a good exaust shop here and was going to replace the two murffelers ,got it on the rack, they were resonators. I backed out until I found out more about a Flowmaster, and warrenty. Have you heard anything yhe oil in the K&N doing something to the sencers? See ya later.

no problem with K&N's as long as you don't over oil them when you clean them but your first cleaning should be at 50000 miles so have a long while before you have to do that. there is aset of resonators at the rear of the car and a set of mufflers just infront of the rear differental. I had contemplated taking out the muffler and puting straight pipe and removing the resonator for mufflers or vis versa

How much is the CAI for 5.7 Charger? Can I order it online? Is it better than K&N's air charger kit?

It does not appear that any of the aftermarket "CAI" systems offer any measurable performance gains. Buy the one that looks good, sound good or fits your pocket book.

I have the Mopar.

How much did you pay for your mopar CAI? Can you only order it from a dealer?

I paid around 360 for it I think .. been a month or so from it .. and most of my gain on my car seem to be from the cai.. The dealer parts department can get them but in there book it only shows for the magnum and the 300 not the charger but it works just fine on the charger.

I paid #346.00 + tax from my local Dodge dealer. I've seen them on the internet for as low as $280.00 but I figured with shipping it would be around the same price. Plus my dealer had one in stock, so being the inpatient, compulsive type I grabbed it. By the way, the Mopar CAI was listed for the Magnum/Chrysler Hemi but is also for the Charger, they just hav'nt updated the performance catalog. Installation took all of 15 minutes. The system has a nice GROWL to it. I'll confess I could not feel the difference immediatly. I followed the installation sheet and disconnected the neg battery cable as directed while removing the old unit and installing the CAI.

I was a little dissapointed. Odd thing....after about 50 miles or so the car came to life and the only thing I can think of is the computer finally adjusted for the CAI. Go figure....Anyway I'm happy with the unit and the car is more responsive.

I didn 't diconnect my battery and noticed a differance right then .. so ya probally just the computer doing all the learning for it ..
