Hello everyone out there in the giant world of cyberspace, obviously I need some help. Some of you may have read that I own a 1972 D-100 Reg Cab Lng Bed equipped with an LA 318 V8.
Well, to make a long story short: the stock exhaust manifold from 1972 went out with a bang...literally! Little chunks of metal embedded into the inner fender and a big hole in the manifold caused me to search several wrecking yards and aftermarket shops in my area...but to no avail.
Of course the left side manifold with the heat riser had to go out, therefore increasing the difficulty of my search. I had to settle with an aftermarket manifold from 1978, but it doesn't look like it will fit correctly.
Does anyone know where to get stock exhaust manifolds for 318s offered in 1972?! :help:

Do you have the stock part numbers? I have several sets of stock small block manifolds, and would be happy to check them. Just need something to compare them with.

they might not be exactly "stock" but exhuast manifolds off a 360 will fit. Some of them are ribbed (later years) but its a direct bolt up.
also, if you get desperate, Summit Racing carries a set of headers for 80 bucks, that should fit no problem.
If you can live without the heat riser, the right and left sides are also interchangeable.
I ran a off side "set" (no heat risers) on my mildly built 318 for years with no ill effects in Montana and Idaho.

If these guys cant help you then try www.car-part.com
Also the heat riser can be rebuilt if need be, Mopar has a kit for that but it is better to have a machine shop do some of the work and the butterfly plate usually needs to be arc welded with a nickel rod. I did this on my 77 W200 440.

Awesome! Thanks to all of you for replying to my thread! TradedBenz4Hemi, I wish I could take you up on your offer, but: the reason why my left exhaust manifold went out was due to excessive rust. The walls just continued to thin out until "pow"! No numbers at all...they're long rusted away.
A little history about this truck: my Dad owned it since he was 18 years old, doing as little work as he could do to it while beating the snot out of it. Now that I own it, I have been tackling one problem caused by neglect after another!
I will check into the website Chump mentioned, and thanks once again for all your help...no one knows everything. That's why there's DodgeTalk.com

No problem on the numbers.
I have a set of ribbed 360 manifolds like the ones mentioned previously. If you want a pic I can send you one.

It is funny how both you (TradedBenz4Hemi) and Banfiadh reccomend attempting the newer "ribbed" manifold. I feel better, because the manifold I just bought is a ribbed generic piece from Napa for a 1978.
Now that I have your offer (Benz), I will attempt to install the manifold. If it doesn't want to fit correctly, I'll ask for your help. Thanks again TradedBenz4Hemi, Hemi Pete is grateful! :D

FYI-just got my 72-73 parts book today and here's what it lists for manifold part numbers...
Sometimes these numbers match the casting numbers and sometimes they don't. :)

dude i got like 3 sets of those manifolds sitting around, wish i coulda got back online sooner i'd have let you have one cheap. BTW, you can swap sides w/ them you know, the heat riser is not a major component that has to be there to run, you can run 2 left side manifolds.
how did they get that rusty? the truck live on a farm or something? i've never seen one rust out that bad.

Sorry it took so long to come back: came down with one heck of a viral infection...well that's in the words of my doctor. Had to take off work and all, so my manifold still sits. :violen: Thanks Chump for the information, it may come in handy.
For an awnser for you Speed Dragon: I honestly don't know how the manifolds could be so rusted like that other than 33 years and 4 months of service in rather wet conditions. No, it isn't a farm truck...just a poor mans' ride. :stk:
I didn't know that one manifold wasn't designed for one side only for the early seventies...cool! If my '78 ribbed 318 LH manifold doesn't fit (heat-riser exhaut ports may not match up to intake manifold) then I would contact you (Speed Dragon) for one of those little fellas!
This is just too cool: had posted several threads for help before, and this is the best help yet. Thank-a-you to you all! :gr_patrio

If the heat riser is eliminated then you might run into problems with the choke not operating correctly. Of course you could always go to a manual choke setup.

never had a problem with it on my truck, running headers and the factory heat choke.
