Ok here's the deal, I have a 2000 le neon with a 2002 dohc r/t engine (not bad, changed intake/exhaust and chip, light and fun to drive) but I'm was looking for something with more power. As I was laying in bed, thinking about different possibilities (yes I had considered the 4G63T swap and 210hp would be nice) but then I remembered, sh**, the gt3000 has a 6G72TT with almost the same motormount size and 282hp/300ft and could be readily available for 2,000US$, so then I got to thinking, would the neon engine bay fit this beast if It was cut up a bit? Would it be mechanically feasible? If anybody with a remote knowledge of neon swaps can even hint at this, I'll start shopping around for swap prices. 300 ft lbs at 6400rpm stock with the possibility of over 650whp at stage II would be something worth exploring. Any takers?

there's the engine.

Well just for the records, I talked to 5 different custom shops here in monteral, 3 of them told me straight up they can't do it, and the other 2 said they'll have to cut the chassis up and remove alot of steel from the engine bay, which would mean first of all big $$ (i think the quote was well over $4000CDN) and alot of structure modifications, possibly leading to frame weakness, which when you're tossing in an engine that ways almost twice as much and pushes out 2x the power, is important to keep strong. I'm going to take it down tomorrow when the shop is open and they'll check it out for sure and give me a definate response, and quite frankly, for $4,000 i'd consider it, wiring harness has to be custom, tranny assembly has to be custom, shifting metrics have to be custom, most of the chassis work and motor mounts. But I know the guy so i'm sure he'll do a good job.

They mentionned it would need a custom tranny and alot of work to get it to fit translaterally (sideways?). He's still not sure if it'll work at all, I have to come by monday with the engine and the car and they'll do some measurements and figure out what they are gonna do with the tranny. All wheel drive would be nice tho :P lol have to cut the sh** out of the car though i'm sure.

Just for those in the know, In order for this to work you need (from a mitsu 3kgt:) a wiring harness, complete fuel system, ecu, turbos, intercoolers and ic piping. Along with custom axles or 3kgt front end swap(hub, axles, suspension, brakes). The list goes on and its about 4 grand us to perform all the labor. Just a quick update.
