Help! I am trying to put a 5.2 magnum from my totaled out work van into a `64 Valiant project that`s been sitting in my yard for waaaaaay too long. I have ALL the electronics(my boss gave me the van; it only has 37,000 miles). There are lots of questions I have but I was hoping someone out there has done this and could point me in the right direction. Question#1. Will the trans fit the tunnel? Question#2. The van was a one ton.Is my aod the 727 based version? Question#3. Will the O2 sensors work with headers and will any of the shorty magnum headers fit? Question#4. What am I forgetting to ask?

a friend of mine run "Straight Line Performance" and sell race mufflers

His name is Scott Brown

he has been running a Magnum engine in his wifes older Mopar

He's going to be running 11's before you know it !

Here is his webpage:
http://www.racemufflers.com/

EMAIL him at SBROWN@RACEMUFFLERS.COM

and tell him the RAM MAN sent you

If it is still around, I would get onto the Mopar Mailing List (MML), there were a ton of good people and lots of knowledge about things like this.

As a Guess, I don't think fitting would be a problem but then again, nothing a little 'custom' work to the floor coulnd't fix :)

Thanks for the tips guys. I e-mailed Scott and am waiting for an answer. I haven`t had any luck with mailing lists, I get a bunch of junk thrown at me, but if you have a specific site that worked for you Dragon please send me the address. `64 Valiant

#1. YOU MUST DO MAJOR SURGERY ON THE TRANS TUNNEL AND TORSION BAR CROSSMEMBER. #2. TRANS IS 727 BASED. #3. SENSORS WILL WORK WITH HEADERS AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THE BUNGS WELDED IN THE HEADERS. YOU WILL HAVE TO GET HEADERS MADE OR LOOK IN THE CURRENT MOPAR ACTION FOR A PRODUCT INFO SPOT FOR SPITFIRE HEADERS. GET A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR BOTH THE VAN AND CAR SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT HAS TO BE INTEGRATED BETWEEN THEM AND WHAT CAN BE LEFT ALONE. I DID A 5.2 SWAP ON A 83 JEEP CJ7 AND INTEGRATED THE STARTER CIRCUIT, CHARGING CIRCUIT, 12V FEEDS, A/C FEEDS, RUN CIRCUIT. I THINK THAT WAS ABOUT IT. ON THE VAN HARNESS YOU CAN DELETE ALOT OF WIRING LIKE ABS, A/C IF NOT NEEDED, LIGHTING, AIR BAG ETC ETC. THIS WOULD ALSO BE A GOOD TIME TO REPLACE THE WIRING ON THE CAR FOR THE REMAINDER. THIS WAY EVERYTHING WILL BE FRESH AND YOU WILL CUT DOWN ON ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO USE THE VANS POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER[ BIG BLACK BOX WITH FUSES AND RELAYS] , PCM AND ADD A BUNCH OF EXTRA GROUNDS. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, south Warren. Just one block out of Detroit. On most nights you can hear the gunshots:) The plus side is cruisin woodward and gratiot avenues on warm summer nights.

I live in Haslett, which is just outside of Okemos, which is so close to East Lansing you dont know when you leave one and enter the other.

Scott also lives in Okemos

Plus Muscle Motors is in Lansing (which of course, is just on the other side of East Lansing.)
