I just got my D150 running and it sounds like it's riding on train wheels. It's really loud even at low speeds. Anyone have any idea's? I thought it was wheel bearings but I took the front caps off and the wheels turn real smooth. Any help would be great.

Are you getting any vibration? You could have the u-joints starting to go bad or the rear end.

It vibrates some, I checked the rear end and its full on oil. ANy way to check it to see if its bad? How do you check u joints?

Get underneath and try to push up & down, side to side on the driveshaft where the u-joints are. If there's any movement, they should be replaced.

One way to check the rear is to put the transmission in neutral (chock the wheels) and try and rotate the driveshaft by hand. If there's a lot of movement before you feel the rear end gears starting to engage, that means there's probably an exessive amount of lash is the rear-end gears and will give you some noise.

Well the u joints are solid, but the rear end has about a 1/2" of play in it. Is that to much?

That doesn't seem too too bad. Have you checked the rear bearings?

Ok, the right rear axle bearing is toast and I can't get the outer part of the bearing out of the tube. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it out?
