I've got a 1995 Plymouth Neon ACR and am attempting to install the Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch kit. I had the stock flywheel resurfaced and I successful installed it (to correct torque specs). I have a question about the next step - bolting on the pressure plate. The torque specs in the Haynes repair manual are 250 in.-lbs. When I bolt on the pressure plate, the "fingers" seem to deflect way too much (they almost flatten-out completely). Are the fingers supposed to do that? Am I missing anything?

Pep Boys employees are MORONS!

I took my flywheel to get resurfaced back in December and I am now just getting around to installing my new Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. I checked the step-height and it is out of spec (after machining). The height on one side is .260 and the opposite is .270. The so-called "machinist" didn't understand what out of spec means. I told him "it means it ain't .295. He went on saying "you mean compared to new?" - like once it wears you can't bring it back to spec. The people shops like Pep Boys hires are largely uneducated automatons.

Meanwhile I got a divisional autocross in Jacksonville on the 19th & 20th and my transmission is sitting on the shop floor. It looks like I'll be taking a few days off this week.
