Im getting ready (next week) to attempt this. Im also converting the rear to a GM 14 bolt. I have a 91 150 shortbed. I know I will have to relocate the shock mounts, either on the axles or on the truck. Ive been told however that the line up dowls on my springs will be about an 1/2 inch off from my chevrolet dana 60 spring mounts. So I will either have to relocate them on the axle, or come along the springs together enough to get them to line up and pull them down tight with my u-bolts. Just curious if anyone has done this swap. If not I guess Ill figure it out and get back with you guys. Im not sure on the driveshafts either. Did one tons of this era with an aod have a NP 247 like mine? If so I will get one ton drive shafts and make a yoke on the 14 bolt end.:SHK:

Wouldn't it just be easier to get Dodge dana 60's front and rear? I know a guy who put a dodge dana 60 in the front of his Chevy(uuggh). He didn't say if he had a problem or not. I remember reading in some 4by mag that they did a Chevy 60 to Dodge swap and mentioned pulling the front springs together to make it fit. Could you use a Dremel tool to slightly modify the spring pad holes so the leaf's center pin will fit it? If it really is only 1/2 inch off, I'd try that personally.

But then again, if you are a good welder, the 14 bolt swap should be pretty easy.

Since your truck is only a 1/2 ton I think the yokes(u-joint) size will be way different at the tranfercase than compared to the axle end joints. I know my 1/2 ton uses pitiful u joints.

And is your brake reservior going to hold enough fluid for the larger brakes?
