Wierd Tranny Leak

I HAVE A 1993 DOGE CAravan 3.0 v6
now i lose tranny fliud and have wrote it off as well it happens you know. i got to noticing a slite wait or a netural effect when i would put it into drive or reverse. if i reved up the engine it would kick in. problem was it was low of fluid, no big deal UNTIL yesterday when my wife pulled into the garage i saw a trail of fluid going from the end of the concrete to the front of the engine.about 12' long and about 1/2" wide. so i checked the fluid and she was way low no crap huh. i filled it up and she got home today i put it on the ramps and look and where the oil pan meets the bell houseing there is a piece of metel like a cover for the flywheel and there is a perrrty steady drip coming from that location at the bottom of the bell housing. what is it from??????

Under that cover is the torque converter and the transmission pump assembly. It sounds like the front pump seal is shot. The transmission will have to come out for this repair. Get it fixed very soon or you'll be looking at a new transmission since it's not good to running it low on fluid.

well that does not sound good! in addition to what i posted when she pulled the van in there was no trail this time, and the fluid level was normal so why would a large amount of fluid come out when the tranny was low on fluid? and after i filled it back up the fluid leak was not as bad just a steady drip. when i say steady i counted to 21 and it would drip then i counted again so the drip happened about every 20-25 sec. does this bare any weight in your opion of the problem?
