I have a 98 Stratus with a V-6 engine. Last summer I had to replace the transmission. I was on the highway, hear a load bang as if I had hit something, but from what I was told, there was a hole large into to put
your fist through in my transmission. So I had the transmission replaced
with a used transmission for approx $2000.

That was in July 2004, now it's February 2005 and I'm having transmission trouble again. Fortunately, it's still under warranty but 100 miles from where I live because I was on vacation when I replace it. Anyhow.....They will replace my transmission with another used transmission at no charge and the warrant will continue through July...or if I want....they will rebuild the transmission (at my expense) and I will get a 2 year 24 month warranty.

Any advice? What's the approximate cost of rebuilding the transmission?[

Thanks

My advice...$2000 for a used transmission is a rip-off. You can probably get a rebuild or have that one rebuilt for around the same price.

I've never had good luck with used transmissions. And in your case putting a used transmission in the car doesn't eliminate the problem of WHY the transmission keeps going bad.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions sell very good products and update them as well. They are pricey, but you get a high quality product. I don't work for Jasper but have installed their products.
