PLEASE HELP!!! I USED A 95 NEON 2.0L BLOCK ("C" VIN) SINGLE OH CAM WITH A 99 NEON 2.0L ("Y" VIN) DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM HEAD...I DONT GET COMPRESSION USING TIMING MARKS SET FOR 99 SPEC. HAS THIS BEEN DONE BEFORE AND IF SO WHAT DO I DO? I DID THIS BECAUSE...I PICKED UP A 95 NEON T-BONED THAT RAN AND THE 99 BLEW A ROD THROUGH THE SIDE OF BLOCK...COST IS THE MAIN REASON...ANY ONE KNOW WHAT TO DO?

you cant use a DOHC head on a SOHC block, it wont work they are not compatible, do yourself a favor and find a dohc block (find an neon R/T, non turbo 2g talon or non turbo 2g eclipse and take a good block outta a junkyard they should work, i'll check for ya to be sure)

the DOHC head needs the DOHC computer and the the DOHC piston heads
the DOHC head's valves will collide with the pistons when running and the SOHC head had a different computer for fuel and timing and just about everything else

Not sure why TheKas thinks they aren't compatable. They are the exact same block, so as far as bolting it on, it's direct.
Now, as for other components, yes, the pistons will need to be changed. You can use the SOHC computer but you would be seriously limiting the DOHC (lower redline RPM).
People have used DOHC PCMs on SOHC cars for the added upper RPM (7200 cutout versus 6700, although some list 7200 and 7500).
You might want to post up on .org to get more info as I'm sure this has been done before and someone will have more detailed info for you.
