Hey all, I have a 98' Caravan 3.3 with 134,400mi. Just noticed a coolant leak coming from front driver side corner of head gasket, engines never over heated, is it normal for a water pump to out wear a head gasket? Any way, i'd like to think i can just re-torqe the head bolts and problem solved!! :D Any ideas?, THANKS! :help:

I replaced the water pump in my 97 voyager, 3.0L at around 125,000. The problem I noticed was no heat. If it is the water pump, may as well have the timing belt done at the same time, the timing belt actually drives the waterpump. Not sure about the head gasket. I had the same problem with my 1989 ford f-150, I dumped some of that stop leak in the radiator 3 years ago, never had a problem since.

Correction, the 3.3 has a timing chain I think!

Yes, you're right. The 3.3 has a timing chain, but the 3L has a timing belt.

BTW, I'm not so sure if retorquing the head will be enough to reseal the gaskets. If the gasket is shot, retorquing may not work.

You have nothing to lose by giving it a try. Worth a shot.

Could the coolant be coming from where the intake seals to the head?
