Hi, I have a code 12 and 43. can anyone let me know for sure what that code is on a 97 2.4, I tried googling it and allpar was the best bet with 3 different meanings to it.
I may be in limp home mode, or just not firing #1
Thanks

I guess it could be anything, time for a mechanic!

How old are your spark plugs and wires? If both are new, it may be your ignition coil, but otherwise replace your plugs. If the miss goes away and comes right back a day or two later you will need to replace the wires also.

oh yeah I did the plugs and wires straight away. the coil checks out on my ohmeter, 0 ohms on the primary side and 12.5K on the secondary side. I still think its the coil but Sullivan tire will put it on the computer and not charge me for that. if it is the coil I can change it in 2 minutes.

the car is fixed. the cause was DEFECTIVE (triple silicone) wires from Autozone. their defective wires cost me $150 at the mechanic and I am going to demand satisfaction.

Autozone didn't manufacture them. They bought them just like you did. I would go after the maker if anyone.
