I purchased this heavy duty mesh grill from Mopar Performance. It is the chrome one made by E&G Classics, the quality is very good, it is heavy steel mesh and chromed. I have it powder coated flat black (20% bright) and installed it today. Very happy with the results, the upper took about an hour, lower was tougher and took an additional hour or so. Fit and finish is very good, was a reasonable project for me. Cost was $240 for the grill $40 powder coating.

*wow* that looks fantastic. I saw the chrome version on another black Magnum and was thinking about doing this myself. Moparsupercenter.com has them for $235. Also has a different type I'm not sure I love/hate yet. The pics stink, unfortunately so its hard to tell. Adding a grille to my goodie list for sure.
How sturdy is it? I sure am not impressed with that aspect of the stock grille.

Matt,
this one is heavy stainless steel, very good quality and fit is very good. Much more sturdy and better than the original plastic parts.

Did you have to make any modifications in order to install, or was it pretty straight forward?

Wow. Talk about timing. I was going to try and hunt up this thread today and it pops up on my subscription list.
Talked to my local shop yesterday and they couldn't find the grille. I'm probably going to buy one at moparsupercenter.com for $235.
Thing is, I *really* want the style that is on the SRT-8. Not cuz that car has it, but cuz I prefer that style. Its not quite the same I don't believe.
Anyone seen anything like that (in an upper and a lower, preferably)?

Sorry to take so long to reply, was in Key West for a week long party and was away from the computer. No it didn't require any modification pretty simple project really, of course, if I managed it by myself it had to be simple. ;)

Pretty sweet! A few questions. Is it easy to install? Do you have to take off the front cover to put it on? Is there any extra drilling or does it come ready to install? I love how you did it all the way down on the bottom part of the bumper. Does it come with the bottom inserts too?

The front cover does not have to come off, the top part was reasonably easy, the bottom part is hard. Tools needed were - phillips screwdriver, box end driver bit, drill, 1/8 drill bit, rivet tool, flat black paint, masking tape, top took an hour including masking and painting some parts, bottom was at least another hour would have been quicker but for occasional breaks. Bottom section can be reached with a drop of the bottom cover 6-8 small srews in the plastic. Comes with pretty complete set of directions.

Thanks dude. I appreciate the info. Does that same grill that you have come in chrome? Or will I have to purchase it and have it dipped? What's the cost of grill set? Thanks

Looks like the Ebay'ers are starting up with these. I got mine on Ebay for about $215 with shipping included. Scheduled to arrive on the 14th. The same guy I bought from isn't selling them at the moment, but there are three other Buy Now's priced at $198. This one has a decent picture of the grille pre-installation. Looks to be the E&G one; or at least they are using the E&G pics.
I asked this question in another thread, but I guess it was abandoned. I was interested in the same grill and since my Magnum is black I would opt for the original chrome. My question is; Is the grill one piece for the top section? In other words I would like to remove the cross bars(if possible) to see what kind of look that would be.
Thanx

Looks to me like the answer is 'two pieces for the top'. Follow the link I left above and there's a picture of the three pieces.
I'll know for sure on the 14th when UPS brings mine.
p.s. my Magnum is black as well. I'm planning on powdercoating it black myself. I may change my mind. Maybe not.

Thanks. Oh well, I'll just wait for a while. I really like the DUB version for the 300. The grill opening is very much the same. http://www.mopar.com/dub/index.html

Was thinking of buying a new grill for my SXT, and wasn't sure which I should go for or what I want it made out of. There are a ton of selections, like stainless, chrome etc, and tons or prices. Any insight into this stuff anyone? Also, how hard are these things REALLY to install?

I have the Black Magnum and this mesh grill which I left Chrome. Looks great. Had the dealership install (just in case I have any problems with it I can take it back) took them about 2 hours, said I was the first.

Looks great. You said that was chrome? I saw one on ebay that was stainless, but not chrome. I think I'm going to do it myself, so 2 hour seems interesting...most places say 1.

The local shop quoted me $40 to install. Don't see how thats possible since they'll have to pull the whole front end off, but we'll see if they can stick to it. For forty bucks I'll definitely let it be someone else's problem... since I know I can trust them not to lay the painted body panels on bare floor and such.

Good point....maybe have them do my viper hood and that at the same time? I wonder what the quote for the hood will be.

My dealership quoted me 1.5 hours for $70. Even though it took them 2 hours still only charged me for the 1.5, that doesn't happen often with a dealership. They did not have to remove the front end. But they did have to remove all of the under body covering to get to the lower grill. The upper they only had to remove the radiator cover .
