hello, i have a few questions about my 2000 caravan. the most important is that once the the car heats up, the tranny gives a quick shudder going in and out of overdrive. i pulled the engine codes and only got a 23 (intake air temp sensor out of range.) Do tranny codes come up on the on-board diagnostics? Also, would the type of tranny fluid cause this. It asks for ATF+4...I think Im running ATF+3.

In answer to your questions, no, the onboard does not give tranny codes. And yes, your problem may be caused by wrong tranny fluid. These vehicles are remarkably sensitive to the type of fluid, and the frequency with which you change it. Get it flushed and refilled with the right stuff NOW to save yourself big bucks.

The dealer is the best bet. I've always used mopar atf+3 (due to the age of the vehicles I drive) with no problems whatsoever. The dealer should have atf+4.

gas28 is absolutely correct, mopar trannies are extremely sensitive to the type of atf fluid you use. You put in dextron/mercon and you can kiss your tranny goodbye.

My 90 B250 did this to. The problem I had was a bad torque converter.
