Well i am 16 right now and i share a 92 Honda Accord with my dad i have around $1000 in bank and still have a job at Buy Rite Motors (use car lot) i just wana know what year i should look for in a Srt 4... i know they go from 2003-2005 and mostlikly 2006... i cant affored new and wouldnt mind one that got totaled... cuz i plan on puting a differnet paint job a carbon fibor hood and a different body kit on mine. I also need some help with prices... my dad works at a bank and i am looking around on the repoed cars (bad idea..) and leased cars... so i hope i can find one when i turn 17... i know i will have to take a loan out by then i should have $4000 and able to affored it... so if i put $2000 down and $1500 into the car (leaving $500 so i can pay for a payment if i cant affored...) bad idea or good? rait 1-10 (1 bad, 10 good)

well the 04 and 05 got a boost in horsepower and they also got LSD so i would defiantly look for one of them used turbo cars can be a pain though many things can be wrong... like i went and test drove a used 2004 WRX with 8k with my friend right before we drove the srt-4 and the guy had managed in 8k miles to destroy the clutch mess up the boost and bov and actually totally rag out the engine so defiantly test drive a FI car before buying

I'd go with a 04. Best of both worlds. Has the lsd and a few more ponies then the 03's. And it has the 7/70 warrenty, the 05's only have the 3/36 warrenty. Oh, and also make sure the car you buy has a warrenty, there's been lots that have been voided.

Make sure no one your age (for that matter, no one under 25) was the previous owner. That's the best advice I can give you with an SRT-4.:)

HAHA... My dealer took me out for a test drive the other day(he drove) to try and show me how the srt4 is better than my wrx. Man, I would much rather buy a car off a 25yr old before buying something he has driven. Evidently, a lot of the dealers drive/abuse their lot cars like that. BTW, I was really impressed with the srt4 --pretty quick and I LOVE the seats.

with the wrx post above, the owner probably insalled a boost controler and set it too high. His clutch was gone because he enjoyed launching --with the wrx, either you brake the clutch or the tranny --the clutch is cheaper.

The last year for the neon period any type of neon is 2005. Done gone, no more. They are releasing a short run of 2005.5 SRT-4 ACR's with special rims and suspension. Than that is it, they are done. Do a search on srtforums, its all over the place that they are gone.

Look on SRTforums.com, they know all there is to know and all of them are saying this. No more SRT-4, which I thought was very stupid when I heard it myself. Something like they are combining the Mitsu platform or something, not quite sure what it is all about but they are gone after this year according to the experts over there.

I know that the Dodge Neon was condemned by the end of the 2005 model year, but I didn't know that Daimler-Chrysler would even think about killing the Neon SRT-4! That would be a very bad choice: one being I like the Neon, and the other because I really like the Neon SRT-4! :grum:

ok y would they kill the best car? i could see them getting rid of the dodge vans... but the srt 4 that is branging them in so much money they might skip 1 year or make a really really nice one with alot of options to brang it about 30k to make the best or put them in a new class but not get rid of it... that just seems like bull shit...

Well there isn't as large of a margin on these cars like one might think. In fact, vehicles like the Wrangler Rubicon, Power Wagon, SRT4 Neon which are existing platforms actually incur more costs when they are modified. And with the SRT 4 being priced around 20K its a steal. I agree that it is cool, and I will be saddened to see it go, but with corporations keeping such tight reigns on finances they will probably make more money with a new platform that costs less to build which they will sell for a slightly higher price than the basic neons. Any thoughts? I dont work for Dodge if any are wondering.

.5 sec 0-60 and 1 sec quarter mile for $10000, I dont think that is possible or feasible.

Ok, it should come as no surprise to anyone that theyre dropping the SRT-4 at the end of '05, because that's when the all-new replacement for the Neon goes on sale!
Give it just a few months after the intro of the next "Neon" and I guarantee you we will see a second generation SRT-4!

The SRT-4 is being dropped after 2005 because the Neon is also being dropped. The Neon replacement will be based off of the Mitsu Lancer platform. From what I've read, the 2nd gen SRT4 will basically be a reclipped EVO 9 or 10. 300hp, AWD, all the good stuff. We'll see in 2007 I suppose.
I'd rather see the rumored Challenger get produced. If it is, that's my next car. :rck:

Even though the statistics state that the '04 and '05 have more horsepower, I do not believe. I bought my 2003 brand new and just a few months ago, I test drove the '05, not much diffrence. Everything felt the same except the clutch felt a little tighter, thats it. I believe that the srt-4 was under-rated when it first came out.

i agree with you but the thing that you dont have is LSD which i dont know how they could have sold the car the first year without LSD and that much power but year its been underated every year

Well a RWD V8 conversion on a neon would take extensive and expensive modifications to the unibody frame. It would be pretty badass when done though, but not very cost effective.
