Are the speedometers on 2000 DAKS cable or computerized? Please help me fellow Dodge Addicts.

They are computerized. There is a sensor in where the cable used to be.

Alcorn,
If your tranny is in limp mod you are most likely going to need speed sensors. THe speedo goes out and the tranny wont shift out of 2nd gear when your sensors go bad. Just a thought.

if you are under warranty then yes... take it to the dealership and have them fix it... if not then it is a fairly easy fix for you to do yourself. BTW are you sure it is your speed sensor i.e. brake light and abs lights are on and speedo doesnot work below 20 moh or so(the speedo not working at various mph in some cases not always 20 mph)

thanks. arent you a visitor in the delphi forum sometimes?? thinki have seen your sn on there. just curious...isnt the magnum performance tb a reworked stocker like the fastman tb's?? just that they have little grooves under the throttle blades to promote airflow at part throttle - better and quicker for WOT?

Yeah Troy I am on Delphi forums every now and then.....to be honest with you I think this board has a much better setup and it is pretty truck oriented.....there isnt much foolin around on this forum and if there is it is not in a performance or even general talk area it is always in the off-topic of comedy area towards the bottom of the forum list. The other site seems to be too chilish and posts always end up talkin about something that doesnt even have to do with the original topic. The only reason why I still post over there is to get NJ R/T's to come out ot shows and to the track.
As for the MP TB, I am very pleased with it. Yes it is a reworked stocker, but it is different from the fastman. I havent had it dynoed or at the track so I dont know what kind of a difference it made in my ETs but it sure feels like it made a huge difference! All the mods I have done in the last two weeks(the mods that werenot on for my last ET and posted next to it) have made nic noticible power. Between the TB abd the ignition the truck pulls real smooth right through the RPM range, were as before these mods it wouldbe a bit sluggish off the start and rev in the middle and die on the top. I cant wait to get to the track(hopefully tomorrow night!) and see what kind of imporvement I have made on my poor 14.83....:)

I see your point and yes the threads often do get off topic rather quickly but you just can't beat the knowledge at the Delphi board. There are guys over there that know the 5.9L inside and out. All you have to do is ask. There is even a guy with his own DRB-III that will put any performance mod to the test. He can test all the free mods like the MAP relocation, IAT relocation, TPS mod, and whatever. That's why I post over there. There are guys that have been building the R/Ts since they came out and have tried virtually every performance product out there. TRAVSRT, TrueBlueR/T, graphiteRT, and Scott Q are just some of the ones who know what their talking about.

Great, we have quite a few folks that know a thing or two on Magnum engines.....lets get these other experts over here...after all, we are FREE and open to all....and thats the way we intend to keep it! ;)
Bottom line...lets post to help share the knowledge and help others...After all, we are all DODGE/MOPAR lovers through and through and that certainly is a common bond....lets share the wealth of info to all others who may seek it!
Thats where we have an edge....we want to help others without the spam and degradation that may occur elsewhere...and we plan on keeping it that way plain and simple. ;)
To get back to the question at hand, Alcorn, they are computerized. Used to be just a simple gear to change, but now you will need a box similar to the Superlift Tru-speed Calibrator (http://www.superlift.com/new.htm) to correct for oversize meat!

Damn, sorry Alcorn, with all this off-thread hoopla, I thought the original q was different ;)....Yes, bring it to the dealer, should be covered on an 00!

Thanks for taking the time to respond, Already got it fixed, $175.00, The sensor is in the rear end pumpkin, Now my ABS light and my brake light are staying on and there is A clicking sound under the hood any time I apply pressure to the brake pedal sometimes the brake pedal shakes. Any info would be great. P.S. When are we getting lift kits for our 2000&up Daks/Dur? I want A functional kit (4 inches +) not 3. Anyone drive the new HEMI? Tim Alcorn

Tim, As far as I know the ABS sensors are in the rearend housing too. Did these lights come on right when you got your truck fixed for the other problem? If you hearing noises from under the hood during breaking I would check the master cylinder, make sure there is enough fluid and check the lines.
I havent driven any 5.7 trucks yet but I heard they are pretty nice(Soemthing like 345hp/345tq.).

I have read many, many posts on the ABS and brake lights on and 90% are solved by replacing the rear speed sensor or a disrution in the signal of this sensor.
I have only read two posts which almost duplicate my exact problem and have not seen a definitive solution.
1. Speedometer and odometer work at all speeds.
2. ABS and Brake lights come on at 60 MPH and stay on until ignition is turned off.
3. While staying under 60 MPH and before lights come on there is a clicking noise from within the cab which paces the speed of the car only while stepping on the brake. Clicking disappears around 15 MPH or when brake pedal is released.
4. Once ABS and Brake lights come on there is NO more clicking noise.
5. Four of five times now I have noticed, ever so briefly, a shudder in the brake pedal around 15 MPH while coming to a stop.
5. I have not checked the Cruise control; this has been mentioned as another possible speed sensor problem.
The clicking noise has me thrown off. I have only read that in two posts.
