Road noise and hard ride seem to annoy me at times. My tires aren't the top of the line, mater of fact their cheap and that is probably the area I need to concentrate on. To quiet the noise down I was thinking of course going to a higher quality tire and maybe get rid of the steel wheels. Tires....TOYO, wheels...ALUMINUM. Have any of you experimented in this area of ROAD NOISE and would you give me some tips on what to do to improve the problem?

you are right about tires, they can make a world of difference with road noise ...

I used to have a Grand Caravan and noticed a difference when I went from super cheap tires to a nicer tire (I went with BF Goodrich)

never really thought about the sound difference between steel and aluminum but I follow your train of thought

I don't know if this helps, but I remember on my old 87 Horizon I had almost bald tires, and going at 140 km/h the car shook like crazy.

After putting on new tires (Mopar), the car rode like a baby's bottom, smooth. I still have the stock rims though.

Thanks for your input. I believe that the aluminum wheels absord vibration a little better than the steel...just a thought!

I honestly didn't think those Mopar tires would be any good, but I found they were quieter than the Good Years, and gave a much nicer ride.

On the other hand, the Good Years were more aggressive than the Mopars; I felt the Good Years were more "sports" oriented and the Mopars were more "New Yorker" oriented.

you could have Dynamat installed on the floors, roof & doors... http://www.dynamat.com/
