ONLY on cold morning when starting the car the engine/steering moans; this is addition to stiff power steering. Once the care is warmed up, it goes away. Should I drive when the engine is still cold the moan get louder and even louder when steering. Like most breezes and stratus's I have the stiff steering, are they related? how is this resolved?

What is your power steering fluid level like? I know they have had problems with the plastic tanks cracking and leaking. They replaced mine when they changed the head gasket.

I have had my head gasket changed (b4 the recall) but did not pay for it. I did not have the moaning then. All fluids are good, had them replaced about 5k miles ago.

is the right fluid in there? maybe there is a problem starting with the rack?

My Breeze steering is not stiff and I have over 300,000 on the original steering system except the tank. I know the first time I changed the timing belt, I went about 75 miles and mine started whining and got kind of jerkyand it was because the belt loosened up a little. I tightened up that night and it was fine and ever sine when I take it off I make sure to really torque it down. So you may have a marginally loose belt, see if it has any play in the belt if it does that would be the next thing to check. Otherwise you may have a pinched line or rack problem.

I had a stratus 1998 like no other here's the ride http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/358465
Like i mention on this site on stratusphere and other sites
Stratus are an owners nightmare nothing but headaches that's the reason i got rid off mine and got me a mazda 3 2005 5 doors 5 speed. Get an import man. The only good american cars are the very expensive ones like the viper and or dodge's that cost $40,000 bucks and above. I owned a stratus put alot of money into it including a new engine and all i got was $4000 for her cause of that. Good luck with your ride bro you gonna need it Peace.

over time anycar with age ans miles will have problems some more worse than others. Buying brand new just delays it
