This is my first Dodge, I need to know what is "normal". It is a 1999 Ram van 1500 conversion with a 3.9l V6. 72,000 miles. I have had it a little over 1 month and put 1000 miles on it and already she needs a quart of oil. No spots on the driveway. Am I in trouble? :help:

A quart of oil after only 1000 miles seems exessive. I have a 94 B250 conversion with the 5.2L V8 and after over 3000 miles since I've had it, I haven't had to add one quart. This van has almost 114,000 miles on it. I've been reading some posts on this forum and a lot of people have mentioned that the lower intake manifold plenum gasket goes bad and allows oil to get into the intake and hence into the combustion chambers.

I would pull the engine box and thoroughly check for oil leaks...I've been told that you can shine a flashlight down the throttle body to check and see if oil is getting into the intake plenum. Also check to see if your PCV valve and crankcase breather are in good shape as well.
