So about three months ago the check engine light comes on. We had only 45,000km (27 945miles) on the truck at the time the light first came on. So we bring it in and the dealer tells us its because the plugs were not changed at the recomended 40,000km (24 840miles) and that is causing a cyl #5 misfire. I highly doubt this but I change the plugs, (not in bad shape at all). And what happens? the code comes back again. So to make a VERY long story short the truck has been into the shop at least 6 times in three months. They have changed Catalytic converter, plugs (twice), coil, Valve springs, PCM, Injectors. The truck ran like crap for a few days after the 6 trips to the serv dept and then it came on again. this last time it was in they replaced both heads and all new valves. they also found a crack in the Map sensor. Before they changed the heads out they did a dry compresson test. Cyl 5 hit 100psi and all others hit 125psi. Wet compresson test was 40-45psi on cyl #5 and all the rest were at 55-75psi.
I am going to ask for a compresson test after the heads were changed to make sure its not a ring problem but I am just a little bit pissed about the whole thing.
