I have been playing around with the shifter and different shift points etc. I came to the conclusion it rarely does anything the same twice. Sometimes it falls right on its face then takes off. If at 40 ish mph and I quickly shift down to 1st while punching the gas, it gets confused and over revs like in neutral then slams into a gear, then falls on its face. It's horrible. So far no matter how I shift or let itself shift, it will not go over 5500 in 1st. I have 1000 miles on the motor, so by todays terms it is basically broken in. Most of my "races" are 0-70 so that is all I am concerned with as far as shifting. I found it is best to leave in 3rd, ESP off, rev to 2000 and ease out then gun it, let it shift when it wants to, and it wants to at 5400 in 1st, 5600 in 2nd... Any suggestions? thanks!

Not sure if this matters...but I noticed my 1500 QC Ram HEMI is doing the same thing lately, but I have 46,000 miles

amen - I love the car, but man that tranny has got to get a shift kit. It's not like the engine doesn't have the power to pull from the lower rpm's. The tranny just kindof wanders around looking for the optimal engine rpm to make the most of the pull - what crap is that? I just want it to lock the converter, stay in the gear of MY choice, and roast the tires.
If I could, I'd first off eliminate the rpm limiter and the maddening auto-shift-if-rpm's hit 5500-thing, then toss in a shift kit 'program' so when in autostic and -I- shift it it shifts, and dang, that converter needs to either be locked or unlocked...but not 'sort-of-locked-but-search-for-the-rpm-of-DC's-choice-thing'. Scheesh, I want a HEMICAR not a totally gushy luxo-cruiser. It'll take time but those things will go away. Now, if there was a 6-speed manual.....hmmm, add a pistol grip.... yeah...
