vaccum pump seal

i have an '02 2500, 24valve cummins HO, 6spd, is it comin for the vaccum pump seal to go bad at 68,000 miles or the blowby tube canister to be changed out as the dealer mechanic told me this. because i get an exccessive amount of oil on the ground. does anyone else have this problem?

I'd say that the vaccuum pump leak is just a chance thing to go bad. The blowby tube canister? You talkin about the little black bottle at the end of the tube? How the hell does that go bad???? You are supposed to drain it at every oil change. I've noticed that if you have a heavy right foot that it will tend to have more oil in it than it will if you have driven it nice since the last change. There is just a little screw in it to hold it into the band around it. Hell, all ya gotta do is jerk it out of the hose and turn it over!
