Have a 02 SWB 1500 Van with 318 and am not getting real hot air in the feet only position of the control. I have tested the temp of the water in the radiator and it is about 193 degrees, I have back-flushed the heater core and both hoses are too hot to hold on to so the flow is good. In the vent only postion, the heat seems nice and hot but when I switch to the floor only position, it is not as hot. Seems like a door somewhere is not moving into the right position or/and is still letting some outside air mix with the heated air. Is this something one can resolve himself or it this a dealer only fix?? (It was 10 below last night and I sure could have used a lot more heat on my feet on the way to work this morning. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I noticed something on my van, a '94 B250. I live in Maryland and while the temperature has been pretty mild here, it got quite chilly a few days ago. We had wind chill factors of below zero temps. My heat was okay at best, but when it's around 35-40 degrees my heat is better. I have excellent water flow and my coolant temperature is normal.

I think what is happening is the heater cannot keep up with extreme cold temperatures and while driving it's worse because of the cold air coming in. Not sure if anything can be done about this or not.
