I have the same aggrevating problem with my SLT. At 4,200 miles, 4 to 5 small puddles of a clear oil would be found after parking. Took it to the shop, then worked on it for 11 days (more like let it sit for 10 waiting on a gasket) and said it was fixed. According to the shop the problem was a bad transmission pan gasket. Drove it home and the next morning I found 4 drops of fuild. Back to the shop and it is still there now.

The only good thing that I can say is that I know they tinkered with it since the color of the fuild went from clear to a light green color.

I'm starting to wonder if it is a commor problem with this new transmission.

Not at first. When I asked if it was covered by warranty and if a loaner car would be provided, the reply was "I don't know". Not a positive response. I had to rent a car on my own which was a basic Cavalier. Not a Durango, so I was hating life! It was only after that it was confirmed as a warranty issue did they pay for the rental car. Now that I had to take it back to the shop on Friday, the dealership set me up in a vechile that was "comparable". Right now, I'm driving a Expedition. Not my Durango, but I can live with it.

I think (know) the dealer was jerking you............. if there is a problem, it's a warranty issue!

Thanks for the input. I don't think i'll be going back to that dealership for service again. After 6 days in the shop they did give me a rental....new F150 quad cab. Nice truck but not nearly as refined as the durango. 5.4 engine felt like a four cylinder compared to my hemi!!!!!!!!!

I had a leak of (almost) clear fluid from the middle of the front of the vehicle. Dealer couldn't find anything. It doesn't seem to be leaking any more.

Does this sound like the same problem? Should I be concerned if it isn't leaking any more? It looked like it leaked about 1/2 cup of fluid in total over a span of about 15 minutes then stopped. I did an oil change the same time they checked for the leak and they said all of the fluid levels looked OK. What other clear liquids are there that wouldn't get caught by a regular oil change?

My fluid was pink. Service said that my power steering pump was leaking and that was what the pink fluid was. I told them that I added a quart of tranny fluid and asked where the fluid went and he said he didn't know. Not leaking anymore. maybe they added too much oil and some overflowed.

Shasty,
Maybe it was your A/C condenser sweating???
Or H2O from the Cat converter? (exhaust)

Just got my D back from the dealer. Service Advisor said that the a front pinion seal had gone bad. Also said that Dodge just put out a recall notice about it. Then again, I had asked the advisor about the battery cable recall and he had no idea what I was talking about- so the new recall seems questionable.

As a recap- My first service call was for puddles of clear, oily liquid that smelled like gear oil. Puddles were located around the front middle, just behind the front wheels. Getting out of the D, I could smell a strong gear oil smell. Dealer said the gasket on the transmission pan went bad. My second service call was for a light green, oily liquid that smelled like gear oil. Not sure if it was two seperate leaks or if the dealer switched oil/added something to get the seals to swell up. Both trips into the shop was covered under warranty, as was the rental car expense.

Your discription of the clear liquid seems to match mine exactly...

Guess I am gonna have the dealer take a look

I am having problems with a leak right now. I posted yesterday in 3rd gen RAMS general and have pics to prove it. First tried reclamping the hoses but that obviosly did not work. I think its the pump. It seems to be leaking on when the rack is under load or turning your wheel to almost full right or left. This is where the fullest amount of pressure is exerted. The seals are probably shot. Check out the pics. Its under "power steering HELP!"
