I have recently bought 98 Stratus with 240 K Milage on it. It is 2.4 ltr, 4 cylinder Engine. I m getting only 8 MPG on the city. What could be the problem? I have noticed the water pump is leaking...

You may have tried these already, but if not. Check your spark plugs and make sure that they have the correct gap. Check to make sure that your air filter is clean. Check your fuel filter as well. Also check your Pcv Valve and make sure it is working. If it is not you can get buildup in the engine. Run a fuel additive that burns clean the buildup in the engine as well. Check your Tire pressure as well to make sure that they are not under filled by alot. The combination of these things can somewhat decrease fuel efficiency
