I spoke to someone trying to sell me their 98 12 valve cummins and they said that the "fuel has been turned up". They say that it gets more power now, but puts out more black smoke. What do they mean by "turning up the fuel". Is this something that can hurt the engine, can it be turned back down to stock?

Does the truck in question at least have an EGT gauge? If it doesn't, buyer beware. Turning up the fuel means that the fuel/cam plate has either been changed or that the stock plate has been slid. Chances are the AFC housing has been slid forward too. Engine can be returned to stock.

Exactly what he said ...
I just installed a #11 cam plate in my 96. But like the pro said ... if theres no gauges ... beware ...
