Just got the Rt back from my shop. Took everything off from Cats back. Probably 100 lbs worth of metal. Put 50 series Flows along with 2 1/2 pipe (mandrel bent) . no resonators. I LOVE it.
Nice rumble during highway speeds.. roars at WOT, nice low/deep idle sound. Love the sound of Flowmasters. Now just waiting for the back ordered KN intake to complete my initial upgrade.
(put BFG's on about a month ago.) ;)

My dealer offered that set up to me as well for my RT, I have balked so far since I have not been able to sample the sound. So how loud is it at highway speeds? Any drone? how bout some pics! :)
Thanks!

How does it sound when the MDS kicks in?

Ok...here's my plan...drop the resonators. On top torch open the resonator remove the guts and put the panel you torched out back on and put the hollow resonator back up. Maintains a totally stock look.

Well I don't know for sure....but there are probably some baffles in them and that is what i'm talking about removing from them. They are there to help make the car quit....right?

From what I read in another post (possibly on another forum) is that Dodge states the mufflers are tuned to regular driving and the resonators are tuned to MDS mode. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Does anyone have any experience or can comment on the Borla exhaust system. Other than the cost they seem to be the way to go. All stainless and made for an easy install.

Okay, here is my take on FlowMaster.
Awesome sound. Very aggressive race sound regardless of what series you get. The 40 series is the loudest and what I had on my pickup (98 dodge ram pu) until just a few months ago. The delta series I believe reduces interior resonance and you lose just a little db rating at the tips, but still very nice sounding.
Con...they are rust machines and ruin your mpg. My flowmaster rusted COMPLETELY in 4 years. You literally could push your finger through it the week I replaced it. My gas mileage went DOWN 3mph immediately on install. Reason being for the mpg loss, is the 3 chambers in the muffler that turn the air flow back and forth instead of having a more "straight through" design creating alot more back pressure making the engine work harder to push the exhaust out....hence the loss of mpg performance.
Borla from what I've heard is a very similar sound to FlowMaster. Yes, FM has a sound of it's own that to someone educated in them, could recognize a mile away. But Borla seems to be a more "straight through" design and could actually increase a 1-2mpg.
In my 98 dodge, this time I just went with a 12" glass pack after the cat, and out of the glass duals with rear side exits. I got my MPG rating back thats for sure :)

I have them on my Magnum. I think they have a nice growl under load, but they are not window rattlers. Almost stock quiet while cruising.
I put mine on a few days after i picked up the car, so I don't have a baseline on performance, but I really like the sound.

There are two Borla systems, which one did you put on?
I'm guessing the Part # 140112
I have Flowmaster 40's with everything else stock. I get a nice growl at startup, a slight rumble at idle and a nice sound if I goose the throttle at a standstill. At all cruising speeds up to about 85 its just a bit more than the stock sound. A slight rumble. When throttle is applied, its a nice complement to the intake.
My accelerometer (Escort GT2) showed a 12 hp gain on day of install. Not a dyno but as close as I'll come and better than seat-of-pants.
As to mpg its been a wash. However I am having so much fun driving the car and stomping on the gas my driving patterns are totally irregular. Next week when I take it back to the dealer to get the auto-start, door sills and uconnect installed (a 160-mile freeway jaunt) I can make a much better assessment.
If you want animal noises on WOT put in an intake kit. That sucker far outshines my exhaust in terms of sound. I put in the K&N first and it sounds *awesome*.

Gas mileage went down 3 mpg compared to stock system??? I hardly believe the stock muffler allows more flow than a flowmaster, if that's the reasoning you're citing. Maybe I misunderstood your statement.

Nope, it went down with the flowmaster on. I had it stock for 30k and then did the fm and got those numbers.

Well, yeah. Maybe in a few months when you get tired of stomping on the pedal to tickle your ears, you might get better mileage. :thatfunny Bet you'll find that the FLowmasters also increase tire wear.
My kids (God luv 'em) gave two Flowmaster 40s for Christmas. Trying to find someone to install them this weekend. Woohoo!

Hey guys, I posted a thread, but can't seem to find it anymore, I replaced my exhaused with Maxi Flows, it was a really great sound. But had a very annoying vibration at slow take offs and 65 to 75 crusing speed. I got tired of this and had my muffler shop install 12" resonators behind the mufflers in the same area where the factory resonators were. I lost some of the rumbling, it is a little quieter, but I lost all of the vibrating. I also had my guys put the resonators on backwards so they didn't slow the flow as much.

I just installed 2 1/2" with a new x-pipe and borlas and I swear that I lost some back pressure and the car is not anymore powerfull. Did you experience the same thing or does the car need time to adjust to the new system? :help:

Might need to adjust. I had the same x-pipe installed to cut down on some interior noise with my Flowmaster 40's.....and it seemed to lack power for a few days. Sounds and feels great now, I chaulked it up to a burn in process. As for the rust on the flowmasters, I don't see any on my buddies 98 Ram.....anyone else seen this?

Did you disconnect the battery for 20 minutes after the install? If you didn't, the computer is still working based on a completely wrong set of data input from a different vehicle configuration
My performance was horrible on the drive back home from the muffler shop. Got it home, disconnected, had a sandwich and reconnected. Problem solved.
