I just purchased a 1994 Dodge Ram B250 Van with a 3.9 v-6 and was wondering where the engine thermostat is located? My engine temperature gauge reading fluctuates after warm up going from warm to almost cold and am thinking the thermostat is going. Also have poor heat in the cab. This is the first dodge I have owned and am not too familiar with their engines.

Open the hood and follow the top radiator hose to the engine. Where the hose curves down onto the top of the engine is where the thermostat is. You may have to remove the engine box or "dog house" as it has become affectionately known to be able to actually gain access to the thermostat housing. I suggest getting a factory service manual for yourself if you plan on doing some of the maintenance to the van. Chilton and Haynes make a fairly good manual, but I recommend the factory manual. I got one off of Ebay pretty cheap and it was in good shape.

You can access it alot easier if u remove the alternator first.
