I got the chance to drive a Magnum R/T today and the accelleration reminded me of the '70 Duster 340 that I had many years ago - that Magnum did have a Hemi! Couldn't tell when the cylinders were shut down and when all 8 were on, though I probably used all 8 of them a lot (hee hee).

It's a whole lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Rear visibility was sort of poor, with big blind spots off to the rear sides.

Real nice, practical car for $33,000 (mine had a sun roof and GPS system on it as the only extra stuff other than the works the Dodge puts in the R/T Package.

One thing to keep in mind about the curent year model Magnum AND 300C. This will be the only year of production with the 5.7L which will make it one of the shortest production runs and an instant collectors car in years to come since the 6.1L will be the V8 of choice beginning this spring when they come out with the '06 models. Just a thought and yes they are a blast to drive. Don't have the 5.7L but I have plenty of fun in my 3.5L project car just the same. I hope to change out the transmission, with DCs assistance, with the 5 speed tranny sometime next year, along with a few other blends between the RT and the SXT. No matter which one you get, from the 2.7 econo model to the screamer RT, they are just an awesome vehicle and a blast to drive. If nothing else, just for the inherent style, of which there is nothing else like it on the roads today.

Tim, I'm very certain that the 5.7-liter engine is not going to be dropped from the Magnum or 300C. They are adding the 6.1-liter Hemi as a limited production option, available ONLY in the SRT models, which will be produced in numbers close to 5000 for each model, beginning next year. The 300 SRT-8 goes on sale in the spring, the Magnum SRT-8 has not been announced yet but is probably coming next fall.

What will probably be very rare (although not necessarily desirable), are the 2.7-liter Magnums and 300's. Not very many have been sold! And rumor has it that the 2.7 is going to disappear from the LX cars about the same time the new Charger goes on sale next year! The Charger has already been announced as having the 3.5-liter H.O. V6 as standard equipment.

The 5.7-liter remains, and probably will remain, the best selling engine choice in all of the LX cars!

One other note about 300's and Magnums............ rumor has it Chrysler is testing the waters for LWB models for limosuine coachbuilders! If they make a LWB 300, I wonder what are the chances of us seeing a LWB Magnum someday as well???? :)

Thanks for the update/correction. My contact had it all wrong apparently. Now I guess we all need to go out and buy one of the rental Magnums and 300s, put it on ice for about 20 years and then make a killing on the resale!! LOL - I'd already wondered when they would come out with a limo of the 300C especially. It is just too cool a luxury car NOT to do it. I'm sure one of the limo companies here in town is already starting to mod one out. I'll have to check and see. Did you get my PM about the Tomahawk??

As I understand about 20% of ESP remains ON eventhough turned it OFF.

I can't notice any difference On or Off execpt the wheels don't spin as much (BSEG)

Believe it or not my dad and I rented a Magnum R/T when they first came out. Apparently the rental car company had bought one, and since my dad rents from them every week, they decided to let him rent it (obviously it cost more to rent it than the tin can Suzuki). All I can say is SWEET! I felt like I was ready to lift off when he slammed the gas.
