trailer light wiring

I have a '99 Ram conversion van (1500). I want to attach a hitch and trailer light wiring. Underneath the left rear I can see the tail light wiring harness and connected to this is an exposed connector. It is a female connector, oval shaped and has six staggered flat sockets. The standard trailer light kits for my van do not show this connector. Any Ideas of what this connector is for?

Unless I'm mistaken that is the trailer wiring connector. I just pulled the hitch off of my '94 B250 and that's what my connector looked like, but my hitch was a factory installed piece. You may have to cut and splice wires in.
