Might want to read my thread on getting rid of the Stratus. Ours was a 2002.

I have a 1998 Auto 4cly 2.0 Dodge Stratus and have never had that problem that TEXAS DODGE did, I drove it to FL and MI and have even gone 110MPH and never had a problem.
Its a lot like the one you want to get your girlfriend, except it has 70,000 miles. The price does not seem too bad, is it a auto or manual?

This is all from personal experience :

I used to own a brand new 1998 Breeze, 2.4L, but three years down the road I traded it in for a 1995 Dakota. When I got rid of the Breeze it only had 21 500 km on the clock.

Reasons that I got rid of it :
- car was too damn low to the ground. In a moderate snowfall, even with a 3 cm accumulation, the snow would scrape the underside of the car. Very unnerving.

- front windshield was like a football field. Expect to tack on an extra 10 minutes AT LEAST to scrape any frost from the windshield in the mornings.

- the windows in the car sucked back the sun, so the interior of the car was always hot.

- a/c not as powerful when compared to my Dakota.

- car battery is not easily accessible, it is located in the wheel well on the driver's side.

- rear deck is very high, you can't see what is behind you very well.

- rear wheels would make a "clicking" sound which the dealer could not solve.

- engine bay is extremely cramped.

- I never got anywhere close to Chrysler's fuel economy. They claimed 11.2L/100km in city and 9L/100km on highway. On a good day I got 12L/100km in city and roughly the same on the highway.

- small trunk.

Good points about the car :
- extremely room rear seat.

- good styling.

- 2.4L was peppy, good highway performance.

- extremely quiet engine and very smooth shifting tranny.

I would look into a Caravan with the 3.3L instead.

Maybe it is a good thing you didn't buy that Stratus, you can now put that money towards the Ram with the new Hemi :D

I got one 98 2.0L 47000 miles on it. Payed $5125 body was very nice. I love the car. And I did do some performance things to it. It runs and sounds good now.
