HELP !!!! I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus (2.4 Automatic - VIN 1B3EJ46X0YN212024)which no dealer seems to be able to diagnose. The problem I am having is that there is a shuddering (the car lurches forward) when the car down shifts into 1st, at around 900 rpm on the tachometer, and stuttering when the car changes up rapidly from 1st. This is a problem that seems to get worse over time, but is fixed, for a short time, by having the transmission reset. I was told at first that it was a problem with the transmission control module, which was replaced, but this did not fix it. I was then told that it was hydraulic, and a transmission rebuild, but I became suspicious when the dealer could not tell me why it would work great for a couple of days after being reset, only to gradually loose its settings.
I am at my wits end. I don’t want to invest anymore cash until I am sure that what is about to be fixed will really fix the problem. Does anyone know what else could be changing the settings? When I took it back I was told that the pressure settings “off”, and that is why it would need a rebuild, but I have a feeling they were more concerned with getting cash. Fluid levels etc are all fine.
