Hey, Scottba1, on your list of mods you mention a custom CAI. Exactly what is it and where can I get one.

CAI stands for Cold Air Intake. There are a few companies that make CAI ofr our trucks but they are abit high priced for my taste so I made my own that is why I list it as a custom CAI.

If you look on EBAY the bids start low but they usually sell for more then $100 and if you try to get a name brand one from a store or company they are almost always above $150.

I have made a bunch for other R/T owners and they have been pleased with them so far and they were very happy with the price. If your interested in one of mine just drop me a line and tell me all the details about your vehicle. I hope that clears some things up for you

:D

your interested in one of mine or do I think it is a good mod for you?

Even if you have a K&N filter in the stock airbox it will help, but you will see a bit of a difference if you lose that restrictive box.....just my two cents

I have to find out the specs for a '96 before I can tell you how much but I will tell you this, it will be less then a big brand name.

If you go into the gallery and look under dakota pics you will see a bunch of pics of my truck(2000 red R/T CC) and one is of the engine bay and you can see my CAI.

Hey, Scott. I 've got a couple of questions. First, would a CAI fit my '99 3.9L? Second, what kind of hit will my MPG take?

I might be mistaken but I think you can use the same CAI that I made for my truck and I dont think you will take a large hit in the MPG area. I drive almost 1000miles aweek and I havent noticed a difference in my horrible MPG :stk: These trucks are known for getting poor MPG as it is so you might as well get some performance out of them if you are going to use up that fuel anyway , right? If you can scan a pic of your engine bay and send it to me I will tell you if I can make one for you or not.

Where can I get the 180 thermostat that everyone seems to have? How much is it and do you notice any performance gain? Thanks!

You can get it at any auto parts store. I spent less then $10 for my T-stat and gasket. Good luck!
