Does anyone know how well the srt-4 handles in the snow?

Not well at all with the stock tires. If you wanna have a chance then you will need some winter tires. Maybe some Michelins for the snow? What size is your tire?

These look nice.

JamesJ2525 is right. My wifes SRT-4 sucks in the winter with those BFG's on it. I'm going to replace them with something else shortly, I just have to do some research. The stock tire size is 205/50/17.

As long as you match the overall height of the stock 17" tire and rim combo you can switch out for some steel wheels and tires for the winter. My buddy was doing this for his SRT-4.

FYI: If you got a set of 15" steel wheels that fit with your brakes you can run a 195/65/15 tire and have almost EXACTLY the same overall height as the stock 205/50/17's(stock=25.0" and this combo=24.98"). This is a common tire size so the tires should be rather cheap and will provide much better handling.

You could probably do some mad reverse donuts with a decent set of snow tires on that, huh?
Yeah, if I lived up north before I sunk money into performance parts or accessories for it I would make sure I had a decent set of snow tires so it will move. I know some of those low profile tires wont even move out of their own tracks in the snow. Even with traction control, if theres no traction it ain't gonna do no good! I just glimpsed the Michelin site and posted it earlier cause it seemed to apply well to that type or car.

Reverse donuts are fun in that thing. My daughter loves it when I do that but my wife gives me "that face"...you know the one. Here's a link to her cardomain site if you want to check it out.

P.S. I'll certainly check out the Michelins soon. Thanks.

Yeah, I know the face. My ex used to give me it in the winter all the time. The combination of diesel, snow, and electing not to use the 4wd for the sake of the challenge of attempting to drive without it in snow made for some interesting rides. It was worth it though, even despite the face.

What ****s up ur car? If you can drive reasonably there shouldn't be a problem. Especially with a nice set of winter tires.

but still i would never drive a nice car durring the winter... salt... ice hanging from the body kits... just the cold temps...

I see, its only a 20000 dollar car though, LOL. I've got more on the line with driving my truck in these conditions. Not a shot on SRTs, I happen to like them quite a bit. Just something to think about, not everyone can afford to have 2 vehicles.

Most people dont have an SRT-4 because it looks pretty. They have it because it is cheap and fast.

Works for me. My wife had an Expresso for 4 years and never caused her one bit of trouble. This thing moved when we got it and now with all the mods it's even more scary. It's not a nightmare in the snow now cause I've but plain steel rims on with 195/60/15" Cooper snow tires. Now it just plows through the snow. Save the 17" BFG's for the summer.

I personally would drive it around in alot of snow, just think i'd be spinnin them too much.

Anyway, I know two people with SRT-4's

One is stock, and he is going to drive it all winter long, his only car. We'll see how he does, considering we are getting a big storm, and already got a few inches today.

The other SRT-4 is a beast! He got it dropped with eibachs, stage one CPU, blow-off valve, AEM Brute force intake, 19" Motieki Rims (yeah, 19's fit, still don't know why he went so big), and other mods. He spins em all the time in the rain, and lasst year when he put the blow off valve off, it was the winter, but he wanted to hear it, so he took it out, and he said he had some trouble. It sits kind of low with the springs, and is damn fast!! so he is real glad he has a winter beater. As am I , cause I love that car!!!

Hope this helps

So, does anyone know for sure what size smaller than 17" will work on the SRT-4's for winter use ? I'm looking at one I plan to purchase and use as my daily driver (114 miles per day) and will need them if the weather turns on me. {Gotta keep the miles down on the CTD** I currently have a 2001 Dodge Neon SE---I run some P205/50R16 Mastercraft Avenger ZHP's on some five spoke alloys during "good" months, and run some 14" Neon R/T alloys w/P195/60R14 Mastercraft Glacier Grip II's during the winter time. (This car is for sale, by the way)

Yes. We run 195/60/15" Coopers on the SRT-4. Tires were sent from heaven. Now the car cuts through the snowy crap perfectly. Wouldn't move before with the 17" BFG's. It had a hard time getting out of the driveway before. Here's my wife's cardomain site if you want to take a look. http://www.cardomain.com/id/slgrn

Thanks for the help (and link). I was unsure what size wheels would clear the calipers...I know the brakes are somewhat beefier than stock. I'll maybe keep my 16's from the '01 and get some snow rubber in an appropriate size.
Thanks again.

I'm replacing the stock wheels w/17" Motegis, I was going to keep the stock wheels for snow tires, what will work in 17"?

I would stick with the stock size 17" tires on the stock rims but just invest in some winter tires. Dunlop makes some nice ones call Graspeks(sp?) They are really nice tires and come in 16 17 and 18" sizes.
