Hello All,

:help: Need some feedback on a noise I am getting when turning left and right.

Going straight can't hear anything, but when turning I am getting this pulsating scrapping sound coming from the front end. I have changed the back rotors when I bought the van but didn't change the front :YO: . My mechanic did inform me that the rotors will need replacing sooner than later.

Just wondering if the noise could be a warped rotor? Can't feel any pulsations in the peddle and I know the bushings need to be replaced wondering if that could also cause the noise, missalignment of the front wheels.

I would look at your CV joints if your peddle doesn't pulsate when braking. A warped rotor will cause a shudder when hard braking. A rotor shouldn't affect your steering.

Would the CV fail if the boot is OK? I didn't find any cracks or leaks.

It could, but not as likely. If you have a rip/tear in the boots, all the grease flies out, then is replaced by dust and road grime, which will cause the cv to fail.

What about a bearing noise? Would that noise be louder than what I described? I forgot to mention that I have a ripped ball joint boot could a ball joint make that kind of noise.

I have an appointment set up, just want to know what I am up against. :WHT:

I had similar noise when I upgraded from 15" to 16' aftermarket wheels. on some turns I would get a grinding noise. I corrected this with small wheel spacers from pep boys. Some people have also "grounded" the tips off the calipers

hope this helps

how about checking your frome bushings, because when you turn it puts more pressure on your frameand if the bushings are shot you will hear noise coming from them

What's a "frome" bushing?

I think he meant 'frame'.

Thanks, just wondering where that bushing might be located?

Took the van in and tech. diagnosed that it is a swaybar bushing and link issue. Also found out that the scraping noise was coming from the left side parking break that had seized.

Haven't fixed the bushing and links didn't want to drop $150.00 for the job.
