I have a 2001 caravan 98 000 km ... when i drive the car , when the engine/transmission are cold , like in the morning , the transmission will slip in any gears only for about 5 mins... i would assume , when the tranny oil comes hot the problems go away.... I checked the oil , looks a nice color... Is this a known problem with these transmissions? ... Anything i can do to fix this problem... I'm planning to change the tranny oil/filter soon... Anyone have ideas ?

What engine do you have ?

Something similiar happened in my mom's 95 Caravan, 3.0L. For the longest time, especially in cold weather, the tranny would take forever to engage into gear. Not until the engine was nice and warm would it engage into gear without any hesitation. This required two rebuilds to correct.

Try changing the tranny fluid/filter first and see if that makes a difference. Have them adjust the bands while they're at it too.
